In 1996, The Sugar Bar was opened by the duo Ashford and Simpson. For over ten years, this establishment managed to remain a secret until a well known celebrity decided to reveal it's location and the people who mingle here on Wednesday nights.
Now everyone knows that on Wednesday nights,an Open Mic event can draw the likes of Stevie Wonder, Patti LaBelle, Michael McDonald, Freddie Jackson and Queen Latifah.
